Once again coming up just a bit short.

Springfield Spirit v. Meramec Shark

PeeWee A1

January 10-11, 2015

This weekend we faced the Meramec Sharks, the second place team in our A1 division. Our team outplayed the competition in many ways, but we came up a little short.

On Saturday, we had a quick lead in the beginning, but they answered with a goal. Leading once more, we unfortunately got into some penalty trouble. The Sharks capitalized on our mistakes and came back with a tie game, 3-3. Their goalie had a stellar performance against the many shots the Spirit team took. Great job crashing the net and putting a lot of pressure in the Shark’s defensive zone, Spirit!

In our second game against the Sharks, we came out early with a goal and they responded once again. Despite hammering the Sharks’ goalie, the Spirit couldn’t get past the goalie’s big brown bouncy pads! A disappointing 2-1 loss, but overall, a great weekend playing as a team. We’ll work hard and beat them the next time around in the play-offs!

Coach's Note:  Thank you, Graham for the recap of the weekend.  The boys played at the top of their game against one of the best teams in the league and did very well.  In the first game once again we scored enough goals to win, but once again the officials didn't count one.  For his solid goaltending all weekend long John got the hard hat.  John made a lot of great saves that kept us in both games giving us the opportunity to win.  John, I once again forgot to take a picture of the hard hat winner, so I substituted a minion this week.
