Frequently Asked Questions

SYHA Season
The regular season typically consists of at least twelve home and twelve away games and practices twice a week. The season usually begins with a couple of mandatory declaration games in September to determine level of play for our teams.  The season schedule is usually finalized by the first week of October.

Practices & Games
Practice for all teams will begin in mid-August. Practices take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Jordan Valley Ice Park. The regular season games start around November 1st. The season ends with playoff games in March.

SYHA Costs
Costs vary from season to season, ranging from approximately $1400 for younger players (Squirts) to $2,100 for older players (Midgets).  This fee covers all game and practice costs, but each player/family is responsible for their own travel and equipment expenses. Part of equipment for new players at the Mite and Squirt level is available at no to minimal cost.

Travel
All games are played within driving distance of Springfield, typically in the areas of St. Louis, Kansas City, Jefferson City, and/or Springdale, Arkansas.  Teams travel on average at least one weekend per month and play 2-3 games with one overnight stay. Teams also play tournaments that may range outside the areas listed above.
